Daughter of John Thomas & Emily Jane (Huffman) Grider (D-1).
Sister of Nelle (E-9D), Effie Forrest (F-9B), Joel Turman (F-9A), Ruby (F-9E) George Irwin (F-9C), Infant (F-9D), Stella, and Thomas E.

Carl and Ruth were married June 24, 1921. Carl worked 50 years for the C&EI Railroad and farmed as well. They both enjoyed gardening and raised many beautiful flowers. They spent most of their life near Bismarck and later resided in Charleston, Illinois.

They were the parents of Thomas William, Kenneth C, Marjorie, and Ruby Jane - who died in infancy.
