Robert Gene Hall

Sept 23, 1926 - Dec 14, 2014

Son of Florence and Walter Hall (F-2)
Brother of Joseph W. Hall (J-6)

Bob was born in Danville and lived in Bismarck in his early years. He attended Bismarck Grade School and country schools Duncan, Grange hall, and Shake Rag.

He graduated from Bismarck High School, class of 1945. He served in the Army, stationed at Fort Bliss, Tx in 1945.

Bob married Betty Ryan in Rankin, Il in 1948. They lived in a little rental house in Bismarck, then bought a home on Maiden Lane. They built on the front of the house and then the back to accommodate the growing family. In 1962, they completed work on their home on Shake Rag Road.

Bob bought the 10 acre wooded tract with the North Fork River running across the back, cleared the land, and with his work crew built the home. He later purchased another 20 acres where he built a lake and several homes around the lake.

He did some daring things: in 1967 Bob and Betty took their 5 children and Betty’s mother on a 3 week trip across the country. He once bought a saddle, then a horse, and then built a barn. Although he didn’t know how to run one, he bought a bulldozer for his business. His contracting business was quite diversified. He built new homes, remodeled many homes, built waterways with his road grader, bulldozer, and other heavy equipment.

Even when his health started to fail, he enjoyed getting on his Cub Cadet mower and did most of the mowing until his last years.

He enjoyed antique cars, buying and selling them almost as much as driving them!

The care and maintenance of the cemetery was of great importance to him.
